About

A look at usememos.com
Memos is an open-source, self-hosted note-taking application designed for quick capture and organization. Write memos in Markdown format, then find them again using search, tags, dates, or calendar browsing. New memos are private by default, and you control visibility for each memo individually.
The software runs on your own infrastructure using Docker, with support for SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases. It includes features like attachments, reactions, comments, and the ability to link related memos. Memos is MIT-licensed with zero telemetry, and you can export all your notes as a portable ZIP archive.
There is no subscription fee, seat pricing, or premium feature tier. The only costs are for infrastructure hosting you choose. The application ships as a single open-source codebase with REST and gRPC APIs for integrations and automation.

Questions
Is Memos free?
Yes. Memos is open-source software under the MIT license, with no license fee. Hosting may still cost money, depending on the hardware or provider you choose.
Can I self-host Memos?
Yes. Run it with Docker on your server, NAS, or homelab; SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL are supported.
Does Memos support Markdown?
Yes. You write memos in Markdown, including lists, code blocks, and checklists. Memos stores them in your instance's database, and you can export your memos as a ZIP archive.
Where is my data stored, and is it private?
Memos are stored in the database of the Memos instance you use. New memos are private by default, and each memo's visibility setting decides who can see it. Hosting and backups are managed by whoever runs the instance.
Does Memos charge per user or per note?
No. Memos does not charge seat fees, storage tiers, note limits, API usage fees, or a separate price for teams. Your own server capacity determines what the deployment can support.
