How founder stories work

Where to write a founder story, what the editor asks, and where the published story appears.

Updated

In short

A founder story tells how one product came to be, written by a founder of that product. A product with three founders can have three stories. Each of your products can have its own story.

Account > Founder story

Go to Account > Founder story, at /account/founder/story. Each listing's profile screen in your account also has a 'Founder story for <product>' card that opens the same editor. Your products appear in a list; each says whether its story is not started, a draft or published, with a button beside it.

How the editor works

The 'Founder story: <product>' editor walks you through six sections (How it started, The problem, What we built, The hard parts, Milestones, What's next), from how it started to what's next. The editor saves your draft automatically. You can add up to 4 photos. 'Help me word this' suggests clearer wording for what you wrote, with no new facts.

What a story needs

Publishing needs a complete founder profile (/account/founder): the story shows your name and photo. The minimum is 3 sections and 200 words. Links are capped at 2, and prices or offers are not allowed.

Where it appears

Each published story gets its own address, /launch/<listing>/story/<founder>. The listing of that product shows the story as a card. The story is part of the full profile, so on a free listing the card stays locked until the listing becomes a paid launch. Your founder profile lists the story of each of your products, and /stories lists published stories on Veyza Launch.

Links and changes

Your earlier, all-products story stays as the general text on your founder profile. Each new product story starts from that text. You can edit and publish again at any time; changes go live when you publish. Earlier /founder/<name>/story links still take readers to your story, or to your founder profile if you wrote several.

Questions people ask

Do co-founders share a story?
No. Each co-founder writes their own story of the product.
What does 'Published on 3 sites' mean?
The story of that product is live on three sites where the product is listed.
Why is the story card locked on my listing?
It is part of the full profile, which is locked on a free listing until it becomes a paid launch.
